The Truth is Sad: About Guys

The Truth is Sad: About Guys

First thing's first: Women... you always, ALWAYS over-think men. Don't blame yourselves; women are, by nature, more complex in their thought processes and ideas than men are (generally). A typical guy, especially a smitten guy, may be hiding many things, but he's basically still the same simplistic being as a completely apathetic man.

If a guy likes you, chances are slim to none that he'll come out straightforwardly and tell you to your face. If you're lucky, you'll find out through a friend or through an awkward cordial phone conversation that makes you realize you're more than plutonic partners in crime (unless, of course, your intuition has already told you that he likes you, in which case he'll be the oblivious one and you'll be the all-knowing wise lady who makes him feel like an idiot for not realizing you already know).

It's relatively rare for a guy to fall for a girl without first going through the so-called "friendship phase". A physical attraction will develop regardless, but the emotional and social attraction needs to be nurtured for it to become anything; ergo, if you're in a completely (or at least mostly) sober situation, a guy who's genuinely interested in you will almost always be one who you know, and probably knows you quite well. One thing you need to understand, though, is that the longer he's known you, the less sure he'll be of your reaction to knowing that he's crushing on you. Any half-sensible guy understands that the line between friendship and romance is a delicate string, but stepping across it can be more like a minefield. Any guy who's able to at least admit his feelings to you is worthy of your attention, if only for you to acknowledge him. You don't have to say "Yes" to him if you're not interested, but rejection through communication is a lot better than rejection through silence.

That's all for now. The truth isn't always sad, but if you over-think it too much, it will become upsetting quite quickly. When in doubt, remember that if you're curious about a guy, you need to dumb down your thoughts a bit in order to understand what and how he feels about you.
